    My husband and I pay around £550 a month for housing, we earn a little more than £20k combined and money can be very tight once you add all the bills into things.

    She is probably better off living alone if she's been kicked out, as she'll get council tax discount.
    Otherwise, could she move in with you for a while to give yourselves time to save?
    Don't forget you'll need at least £1000 for rent in advance / deposits!
