late feedback!

I've just had positive feedback on an item that I sold on the 14th January, talk about leaving it to the last moment. I had left positive feedback as soon as I received payment and i'm not complaining as it is a good positive, but it seems a bit slow.

Actually I was wondering the other day, whether I should contact someone who hasn't left any feedback, although it was only 4 days ago. I have seen that most people leave feedback on the day or the day after their goods arrive (you can probably tell I'm fairly new to Ebay). Anyway, if anything, it would just be nice to know that the goods arrived ok. Do you think I should contact him or just leave it?

Never, ever ask for feedback. It can really irritate some buyers who might retaliate by leaving something you don't like.

Feedback is optional, if someone does not wish to leave it then they won't. That's what surprised me about this feedback really, the fact that it arrived at all. After a week or two I tend to think I shan't get any and just move on to the next batch of transactions.

I tend to get about 90 to 95% of my buyers leaving feedback, but then I tend to leave mine as soon as I despatch the item in many cases.

Personally I would leave it. Some people do a pile at the same time, (you can get them all done once). Some people just dont bother. Its life ! $ days is nothing really there is still 84 to go!!!!

Soo.... Have you looked to see all their feedback left recently?

If seen the situation whereby a newbie buying for a few months, realises (probably after being nudged), that they should be leaving feedback, and thus they do, en-mass. :P

Soo, do you mind me asking why you wait until you've sent the item before you leave feedback?

I only ask because I'm very new to ebay and on each item I have bought I've paid within seconds of the auction ending. I then wait anxiously for some feedback to be left so that I know that my payment has been acknowledged.

As soon as I receive my item, I'm on the computer leaving feedback for the seller.

I understand that if you're selling large volumes it must be difficult to leave feedback immediately but if you've received the money then surely the buyer's fulfilled their part of the bargain

I just email a non-feedbacking buyer to ask if the item has arrived so that I can tick them off on the receipt. That will usually trigger them to leave feedback. Buyers who don't leave feedback annoy me. Not because I'm a feedback junkie, but just because I don't want piles of old receipts and posting certificates all over the place!

    Not at all.

Just as a seller should be rated on the whole experience, contact, goods, speed of delivery, packing, contact, etc, so should a buyer.

Would a Buyer that paid quickly, received goods, complained for some absurd reason, then sent abusive emails be deserving of Positive feedback?

By leaving feedback as soon as payment is received you are only rating the buyer on the speed with which they pay. IMHO. :)

But if you're going to leave feedback as soon as you've sent the item (as soo said) then they could still complain and send e-mails when they receive the item.

So do you normally post out, wait a week and then leave feedback?

I'm curious because as a new buyer my feedback is very low and every + counts. I pay really quickly so that the seller knows that I'm not a time-waster and therefore I expect the item to be sent out promptly and feedback to be left for me.

I can only tell you how I run my auctions.

Once auction is completed, I send a "congratulations" email detailing total payable (based on buyers registered country) and payment options.

Upon receipt of payment I send an email confirming receipt.

Upon despatch I send an email confirming despatch, and ask politely if upon receipt buyer can, "Let me know i there are any problems ASAP, or confirm safe recept via the feedback system"

If I don't get an email or feedback, I send (as others suggest) a simple, "just looking to confirm safe receipt so I can check off list" email.

Yep I do a similar thing. If I have not received feedback from someone after 2 weeks or so, I send a feedback reminder email to them. I dont see the harm in this at all, and it usually does the job just fine. I have never had any complaints / negatives because I asked a buyer to leave feedback.
The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)
