Death of the vac

Probably another thread somewhere, but couldn't find.
I bought a vac in January of this year from Argos. This week, whilst doing normal cleaning duties, the part underneath that controls the ground clearance snapped off. There was a plastic 'prong' on either side which fit into a housing.
Does any of that even make sense?
My question is....................Am I able to get a replacement/refund because of this, and the fact that it's still within 1 year of purchase?
Any help gratefully accepted.

As above they must repair it for you - take it back with proof of purchase. Not sure about Argos, but some stores can't be bothered with the fuss of handling individual repairs, so just offer you an immediate exchange, or even refund. You can't insist on that (nothing stopping you asking), its down to store policy.0
