Heat marks on dark wood

I second the basso trick. It's important to rub it along the grain, and then wash it off with vinegar. It definitely works!Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

From what I understand the heat marks are caused by moisture being released from the wood and being trapped under the varnish etc. The reason you need heat is to get the moisture to be reabsorbed by the wood.
You can get a heat mark remover from the diy shops it's by colron I think0 -
I have an Ercol dark wood table which has recently been marked in a few places with an iron. Surely if i take a layer of the varnish off it will leave the wood underneath exposedf? Anyone any ideas?0
