A little bit of advice please
My car has been sat on my road for 2 months finally getting it repaired - head gasket and timing chain.
I drove it to the place its getting repaired and the brakes didn't seem right seemed as though I had to put my foot down harder Is that because the car hasn't been driven for a while or will it be they have worn down and need replacing? I heard a slight noise not really sure how to describe it.
I don't know whether im just being conscious (if thats the right word) and while this has been sat on my road. I have been driving a newer car (company car) and the brakes are alot more sensitive. my car is 10years old.
I have asked the mechanic to check this but while I am waiting just wondering if there's any other checks I should be doing before driving it again as I will be using it daily for my job.
I don't know much about cars and with it being my first and not having it for very long I just want to make sure everything will be okay

Probably just needs a service. The brakes will need cleaning/adjusting, maybe the calipers will need to be freed up. Nothing serious.0

Thankyou for your advice but what is calipers? Just hoping there isn't anything else that is going to break my bank balance. Wasn't expecting this repair so soon after buying the car :-/0

Calipers are the bits that squeeze the brake pads onto the discs.
Or if its a lower end car you may even have drums on the back?
A thorough service, Making sure you mention the cars been standing for a while and the brakes need looking at.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Brakes should be stripped, inspected, cleaned and lubricated by someone competent every year preferably and certainly every other, though few people do so and then complain when they are forking out for new calipers when the old ones seize up.
The brakes on your car will most likely be fine if you give them some good hard use a few times, no doubt the discs are rusted like an old horseshoe, bearing in mind it must have sat during the rain deluge drought earlier in the year.
Worthwhile getting your mechanic to renew the fluid whilst he's going through them.0
