Stud Walling and over boarding

Can anyone give me advice on erecting a stud wall please? Like how many struts there should be in the frame to support the plasterboard etc. Also going to plaster board over existing walls so looking for advice on how to do this also.

Never done anything like this, so treat me like a complete idiot when explaining :confused I have received quotes in excess of £3k to do it so looking to save money and not kill myself at the same time!!

  • WOW £3K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When we moved into our house and renovated it, I removed all of the upper stud walls and replaced them for a lot less than £300.
Plasterboard is fairly cheap, get the large 8'x 4' 1/2 stuff from WICKES for about £10 a sheet.
Because the plaster board is 4 feet wide, look to put the uprights at avery 2 feet or so for strength.

Not sure if your aware but you can get plaster board with one of 2 types of edge. Either square edged ot tapered edged. If you don't know how to plaster I would suggest going for the tapered edge type as it makes doing the joints dead easy.
