right here goes, a bit long winded so please be patient. We had a lloyds current account for many years and due to several unavoidable situations we accrued many bank charges. We lodged a complaint to have these refunded but, despite winning cases for friends etc, ours was at the time when the oft case decided they were fair charges so we ended the pursui and Lloyds wrote to say our case was closed.
We struggled on after paying hundreds of pounds in cahrges some months, snowballing etc. At the end of our tether we left lloyds and opened an account elsewhere.Due to the charges we left the account £2500 overdrawn but our charges claim would have given us possibly £6000 plus. I threw the statements and charges lists away.
This year we lost our home after years of struggling...not helped by lloyds history. Because of their charges we struggled to pay other bills and so the story goes on.
I have now been advised that we can still claim as a hardship case. Please can some of you experts out there advise where I should start? thankyou.

Are you currently in financial hardship?
Financial hardship relates to now. Not in the past. Also, it is still at the goodwill of the bank. Even the FOS cannot tell a lender to pay out. So, you need to put a strong case across.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

If you are in current, genuine financial hardship, and the bank are still applying charges, then you can ask the bank for relief from these charges. This may result in a refund of the most recent charges and a small window going forward where the bank stop applying charges.
You will still owe the vast majority of the accrued debt. As you also suggest you are also having difficulty paying other charges, you should seek the assisatnce of a debt advisory service. The CAB may be able to offer you this or be able to put you in touch with an organsiation that can.
You may also wish to post your details on the Debt Free Wannabe board where you may get some additional help dealing with your debts.0
