Bumped up MOT repair charges

I just had some repairs done for my car to pass its MOT and have a suspicion they have bumped up the charges. They say they replaced both front brake pads and the O/S front strut top mounting, Well, there's a dirty great cobweb on my hub cap right through to the tyre valve and it doesn't look to me as though the wheel has been touched. Also, I looked at the shocks and I can't see that any part of it has been replaced. They have also replaced both rear tyres citing that they have cuts in excess of the requirements. I've had a good look at both tyres and can't see a cut anywhere.

Can anyone advise me on this - obviously I'm no expert? I'd be really grateful if someone could help me on how I should tackle this.

those repairs should be easy to check visually, if they haven't been done and you have a bill saying they have then take it up with the garage

Thanks, vaio. I think I'm going to get a friend of mine who has a bit of experience with cars to have a look at it. I think the work hasn't all been done but I'd rather get a second opinion than have egg on my face! Lol
