HELP!! Also really worried about recent spends on my c.card!!

Hi guys

So been reading around on the CCCS site and working out my incomings and outgoings. And trying to get myself all prepared for the big day.

I wonder and this really scares me, as the wife had lost her job, and I owed money to a few so called friends who turned really nasty.

I have had to make a few transactions from my credit cards, and over two credit cards the amount is around 5 grand. I used this to supplement my wifes incom and pay these friends off.

My worry is by the time I have set my DMP, these transactions are only from the last two months.

Surely these credit card companies might not agree to greatly reduced payments from me due to my recent transactions. And they will probably be very angry that I run up bigger debts with them when I was close to defaulting.

Have you guys had fresh debts with youir credit cards close to defaulting??

Another thing I need to know to put my mind at rest :)

Thanks

Don't worry too much hun, we had PDL's and a credit card bill close to starting our DMP, they might not look favourably on it but we just explained it was the only way we were able to live.

The poster did say in the original post that he paid his friends with his credit card!

You need to stop beating yourself up. One of your children isn't even born yet. In the grand scheme of things they have everything they need and want - a home, loving parents, food, clothing. At such a young age they won't know the difference between hand me down clothes or second hand toys and if you budget properly there's no reason why they can't still have treats.

It's better to do this now and be debt free in a few years than to leave it and let it spiral and things get worse. The fact our baby is due in a couple of weeks was the wake up call me and my OH needed to sort ourselves out. By the time he starts school we should hopefully be debt free, we are sorting this out now so that we can give him the best.

Learn by your past mistakes, educate your children about money when they are old enough to understand.

Just please stop thinking you are letting them down by tackling your debt problems because your doing the complete opposite and making things better for them for their future.

    Have you contacted CCCS yet?

    Its not just the debt,

Its the fact things are going to be very tight for us and I feel so guilty I cant give them what they might want.

Have not contacted CCCS yet still working stuff out, and looking into it all.

    Thanks so much

It's about giving them what they need, not necessarily what they want... ;)

    want-need= worlds apart...
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Kids don't ask for much, you won't know what they wnat til there 4-5 anyway, until that age there happy with a cardboard box and a banana (what is it with kids and bananas?) after that there happy with poundland toys, primark character clothes (this is a godsend in our house) and tesco value ice cream.

Your doing the right thing sorting yourself out now, after all, do you remeber anything from being a young child? now i know my mum struggled when i was younger but i have no memories from before i was around 4 and none that involved being skint til way after that, by the time they'll notice you'll hopefully be back on your feet.

Also a dmp will allow you money for clothes, treats and xmas, things aren't as bleak as you think and in a few months you'll look back and be glad you took the first step.

    Yes I know

But its hard when they maybe at school and their friends are saying they got the latest games system for christmas. And just had a disney world holiday in florida..

And my kids have had a bag full of pound toys and no holiday at all...

They have always wished to go to disney world...

Thats what makes me feel so bad, all because I got in debt not them but me..

    :(
