EGG PPI Claim - Grrrrrrrr

Hi All, really need some advise.

I've submitted a claim to EGG (now Barclaycard) for a PPI refund for my credit card). Today I received a letter from Barclays that they not able to uphold the claim as my application was made online I had the choice of un-ticking the section for Insurance. TBH, this was several years ago, but I've ever agreed to PPI and I'm fairly positive that the application would not submit unless this box was ticked.

Has anyone had any similar experience and how was that handled.

Do I right back, if so asking what or should I go straight to the FSO?

Any advise would help.

I got exactly the same response. Again, it was years ago - 2000 to be exact - and I don't remember there being a box to either tick, or untick. I also don't remember if the application would only submit if the box was ticked. Somehow, I'm not sure they would do that, so it's their word aginst mine (and yours) and I don't know if I can be bothered to take it any further.
  • I've just had the same response , I intend to contest through FSO as I recall at the time I was unable to deselect the box and even when I spoke to the client services they advised it was mandatory

OK - I'm wavering now. Are you sure it was mandatory to take out PPI? If so, then I think it would be worth appealing their decision. They also said that I agreed to their terms and conditions and that I therefore would have agreed to PPI - but if it was mandatory, then I would not have had the choice.
    Hmmm
