Money for India

Hi,

My partner and I are going to India and it isn't allowed to take rupees into India so we can't get money before we go.

I saw this card http://www.icicibank.co.uk/personal/travel_card.html recommended
on the internet. You can charge it before you go and draw Rupees out at cash machines.

Anyone know about this - is it a good idea?

We just take a load of cash and some (decent) cards. Depending where you are going (not at the airport) you can sometimes get better than the wholesale rate. Don't ask but trust me.

PS. The Indian Rupee is weak at the moment, almost record lows.

Just take bank of england notes and a card that is cheap to withdraw when you are there. You can buy rupees at your arrival airport, we bought about £200 worth in Delhi airport.
  • Make sure you take untorn notes and NEVER EVER accept torn Indian notes.
