Which car??

I'm 21 and looking for my first car.
I have a 3 year old and an almost 2 year old.
I have been car hunting today, and like the Fiat Panda, Volkswagen Up! and Skoda Citigo.
However I know nothing about cars and am probably going to be tempted to choose based on the one that 'looks' nicest.

It will be a new car, outright purchase. Can people please help? Maybe with pros/cons of the cars or suggestions of others?
It HAS to have 5 doors, and have a decent sized boot. And as cheap as possible :)

The VW Up, Seat Mii and Skoda Citigo are all the same car and I dont think have 5 doors!.

In the same way the Peugeot 107, Citroen C1 and Toyota Aygo are the same. In all instances, with two children then those cars (and the Panda) are going to be way too small. If it must be a brand new car I suggust spending a little more for a supermini such as VW Polo, Ford Fiesta, Seat Ibiza, Skoda Fabia, or on a mini-MPV such as Nissan Note or Honda Jazz - the latter is particuarly well thought of.

Just do what every other 17 year old does and get a Fiesta or a Nova
  • My parents want it to be as small a car as possible, my daughters are only 2 and 3, so legroom isn't really an issue at the moment. The intention would be to get another car in 5 years or so that is the next size up.
My parents are buying the car, and will not buy secondhand <-- their choice not mine. But they want something that I can tax and insure relatively cheaply as I'm a single mum.
The VW Up! and Skoda Citigo most definitely do come in 5 doors :)

I'm with timbotambo on this one. I would probably go with a fiesta, Polo or something of that nature, kids grow up quick and the boot space will be more sufficient.

You will be surprised by how much space you will need in the next 5 years!
  • I'd go for the Panda I think, the new ones look much better than the older shape and you can get the 0.9ltr Easy twin air model that is said to get 67mpg.

I doubt that you would get that as the 500 twin air didn't get its suggested MPG but still worth it as its tax band A (I think thats exempt) and has 83bhp which is punchier than the standard 1.2 Pop. Its also a bit more spacious than the VW, Skoda and a bit higher.

    HTH :)
  • Kia Picanto. It's like a Tardis, tiny on the outside but impressively big on the inside. My brother has one and they manged to get 4 decent size men men (Including him) in it and drive from London to Belgium without anyone suffereing any ill effects.

Also comes with a 7 year warranty so if the door mirros fall off in 5 years time or the Central Locking packs in you just take it back to the dealer to fix it.

This review of it is reasonably accurate

Your parents are buying you a brand new car and it must be a tiny one even though you have 2 kids?

Personally i would thank them and say no thanks, Buy something with enough space for the 2 kids and enough metal around them to actually survive an impact.
