Car Insurance Rant!!!

My car was hit in the rear by someone on 28/7 exchanged details ect. Phoned insurance who gave us a choice of 3 repair garages. After choosing the closest we contacted them and ask how long it would take and explained that we leave the country with the car on the 18th august. They offered us a litre courtesy car which we accepted thinking it was for a couple of days.

They advised us to take the car up to get a guide to timescales we did this on 9th august and they said it will take 1.5 - 2 weeks.

On realising that we would be away when the car would be finished we contacted insurance who offered us hire car on like for like basis. To do this was a £500 excess or we could pay £60 to waiver this which we did plus a £15 fuel surcharge again we were fine with this as the car was going to have to leave the country with us.
This car was delivered yesterday and we dropped our own car off at repair centre today.
Then had a phone call to say that car would be ready to collect on monday 13th.
I am angry that weve paid £75 for the like for like car thinking it would be nearly 3 weeks not the 6 days its turned out to be.

As we thought that was it till we came back we have made plan to visit family on the way down to dover leaving this saturday.

Currently waiting for insurance company to call us back as i feel this is terribble customer service on part of the repair garage,

Thanks for reading if you got this far :)

1.5 weeks is like 10 days
    they did it in 6
so you are saying its poor cutomer service to do the job quicker for the customer?
  • no not that at all but on there timescale that was the minimum it would take.
Just ended up paying out money after they said themselves it wouldnt be ready in time. Wev felt we had no choice but to take other car.
Had they said theres a chance we may have it ready in 3 working days I would have done things differently.

It's rare to see a complaint where work has been complete too quickly! Their estimate may well have been correct but the garage perhaps struck luck on getting the parts earlier than expected or perhaps had a cancellation so used to time to fix your car. There's not really an exact science for these things.

Personally id be frustrated, but wouldnt spend too much time complaining about it, just accept sometimes things don't work out exactly as expected, in this case worked out better
