Legoland Windsor - One Day or Two

Options
Hi,

We have booked a couple of nights cheap at Travelodge for 1st/2nd September and are going to take our 6 year old to legoland.

We are undecided whether to book tickets for one day or two days at Legoland, if we only go for one day we will plan to do something else on the other day.

Would one day be enough to see everything? We are looking at getting there for 10am and the park is open until 6pm on the Sunday.

Thanks
Sarah

As it is a weekend during the school holidays, it would probably be better to do it over 2 days as there is a lot of do there and at weekends in the school holidays the queues for rides are usually bigger. There is a nice water play area if the weather is nice you could bring your child's swimming gear and a towel. There is also the mini world model area and the build your own lego model place.
  • Sorry got the dates mixed up, we are setting off on Friday 31st August and had planned legoland for the Sunday 2nd/Monday 3rd September - our son goes back to school on the 4th September.

Not sure how many of the rides our son will actually go on as he is autistic and tends to find some rides scary, he does love lego though so will really enjoy looking at the models.

I will be getting tickets through work and am not sure about spending £150 for the two days in case he has seen enough on the first day and then not wanting to go on the 2nd day.

I don't really rate Legoland, and don't think there is enough to fill up 2 days. So I would spend one day at Legoland, and the other at Chessington. My 7 year old would find most of the Legoland rides too tame, as it seems to be aimed more at toddlers.

We found a day in Legoland was enough for our 3 and 4 year olds and spent the other day in and around Windsor - had a walk and picnic at Virginia Water, saw the castle and went on a Thames boat trip.boat. There's a nice ice cream place in Windsor that does loads of flavours which is worth a visit.

Legoland do a scheme whereby a carer for a child who has autism gets free entry and you can get exit passes at guest services to join the qbot/ exit pass shorter queue. You need to bring proof in the form of a GPs letter, membership schemes your child may be part of. My friend who has a child who has ASD has found this scheme to be good when she has visited legoland.

It would probably not be a good idea to book both days in advance and wait to see if your son enjoys the first day. Chessington World of Adventures is about a 35 minute drive from Windsor and he might enjoy the rides and the zoo there, plus they have a nice aquarium and bird shows.

Information from Parents who have used the scheme on the autism.org website on the link below:

  • Thank you, that is brilliant information :) My son has a letter confirming his diagnosis and he is also in receipt of high rate DLA, queuing was one of the main things we were worrying about and had looked at the q-bot passes but they seemed very expensive.

I am glad the information was useful. I just checked with my friend and she informed me that the guest services window is to the right at the main entrance just inside the main gates.
You could book tickets over the telephone using the raring to go offer which is valid for your dates for your OH and son as adults are £25 and kids £22.50 and you will go free as a carer for your son.

  • After having a good look at Legoland and Chessington World of Adventure we have decided on a day at each. We have spoke to both places regarding proof of DLA for carer entry and diagnosis letter for exit access to rides and both places were very helpful :)

By using my NHS employer discount at legoland and my student discount at Chessington we have booked both days for 2 adults and 1 child for a grand total of £87 including parking passes :)

My 4 and 2 year olds could spend all day just looking at the trains in Miniland  They should really put more benches in that area.
I love Chessington though, even not going on rides there's so much to see.
