eBay Buyer Protection reimbursements - Scam?

Just tried to list an item on eBay but at the final 'review listing' screen I've been told they need a reimbursement method in case of disputes and directed me to a page to automatically set up to pay the amounts by credit card - asking for the whole deal - number/ security code and address
I've sold on eBay for years without such a thing, with items sold and also listed a couple of days ago. On the occasions problems have arisen they've been sorted, usually by the amount deducted from my paypal balance or my P/Pal registered CC. I also pay my ebay fees by direct debit straight from a (separate to CC) bank account.
I'm sure I've had to verify (by card) my ebay account before so am stumped and a little suspicious. Is this normal? am I missing something or does this indeed smell like a long dead cod?!

Hi. I've had this. If you go into my ebay/account, you can set it up on there without credit card, just set it up to go from your paypal account-then you can list no problem.
If you go into my ebay/account then go to personal information-it's in that bit. HTH
