eBay Buyer Protection reimbursements - Scam?

Just tried to list an item on eBay but at the final 'review listing' screen I've been told they need a reimbursement method in case of disputes and directed me to a page to automatically set up to pay the amounts by credit card - asking for the whole deal - number/ security code and address

I've sold on eBay for years without such a thing, with items sold and also listed a couple of days ago. On the occasions problems have arisen they've been sorted, usually by the amount deducted from my paypal balance or my P/Pal registered CC. I also pay my ebay fees by direct debit straight from a (separate to CC) bank account.

I'm sure I've had to verify (by card) my ebay account before so am stumped and a little suspicious. Is this normal? am I missing something or does this indeed smell like a long dead cod?! :D

What sort of item was it? A high value one? (ipod / ipad?)

Nope, an old typewriter, collectable but fairly low value, listing as 20 quid!

Could maybe understand it if I'd gone from 1p auctions to listing new iPads but I've sold cars & scooter without any problem

Hi. I've had this. If you go into my ebay/account, you can set it up on there without credit card, just set it up to go from your paypal account-then you can list no problem.
If you go into my ebay/account then go to personal information-it's in that bit. HTH :)

Hi. Go Into my ebay. Go into my account, click on perrsonal information. Go down the page to financial information. Go to Reimbursement payment method and on the right hand side there is an edit button. click edit and you should be able to set it for paypal.
