Will Pension credits interfere with Mortgage insurance paying out?

Hope I've selected the correct board but was hoping someone might be able to help.
My father has recnetly been made redundant and has been claiming Job seekers allowance which the Mortgage insurance people need to see each time in order for them to pay out & cover the Mortgage repayments.
However, he's been told, by people at the job centre as well as others, that he'd be better off (at 63) claiming Pension credits rather than Job seekers allowance.
I was therefore wondering if he did 'swap' pension credits for job seekers allowance, would this have any impact on the Mortgage insurance paying out (He only has one year left on his mortgage, so pretty much this is the final stretch).
If anybody has any sort of advice or help that would be great.
Cheers,
Jim
