What are ScottishPower Customers Doing ?
Elo,
My capped combined gas & elec'y tariff is about to run out.
All the online switchy sites say go to powergen, but there's bad feedback posted on here about them; the traffic light on here is red suggesting not to switch anyway !
I just wondered what other people where going to do ?

Me personally is staying put.
I have mates that work for EDF and Scottish Power, they both say that each company had low elec price rises last year in comparison to the rest of the industry so no reduction has currently been negotiated. Historically EDF & Scottsih Power have remained competitive due to low electricity price rises, in Scottish Powers corner they should not be slated as they have been been competitive for the last 3 years.
Both the above company's are delaying, but why should we pay the extra for their incompetence. If Scottish Power dropped prices in line with the rest of the industry, I would say they would be the most competitive..
I feel both companies bought tooooo much Gas at the whole sale price to cover the winter/Spring period which the customer is paying for.
I would suggest NOW is the time to change...
Good luck

I'm sticking with ScottishPower - I'm in the same position - price capping coming to an end.
They still seem to work out cheaper for me

I am staying with scottish power, but am not sure whether it will be better for me to switch to their new online saver 3 which will be available in April. Also if I am saving only £15.75 with online tariffs. Hubby says to leave it as it is and let somebody get paid for reading the meters. I am also concerned about reading the meters myself, I have not checked my electricity meter yet to see how easy it is to read. I would like to know what happens if you read your meter incorrectly e.g underestimates your usuage, this can go for years, will they check on you? Thanks0

Unless you have one of the old dial type meters, they are very easy to read. The old dial meters are easy really once you get used to them, but they can be confusing at first.
Companies are obliged to inspect gas meters once every two years, so if you had been reading it wrongly your account would be corrected at this point.0 -
We are with an online tarif, Loulou and they still send people around to read the meter at least once a year, so don't worry about it.

Most people have the new digital meters but some ( like me still have the old style dials.)
scottish power do have a guide to reading the meter on their website, but I waited for an up to date reading from them and then worked ours out from that - ie - re-reading the dials until I got the same reading and have stuck to that ever since.
I dont find it a problem at all now - and I do now read the meters everyday to check on our usage!!!! They do say that alll dial meters will be be replaced (eventually) as part of a rolling plan thats in progress.
mind you the green energy plan with them is the same price, though without the onine discounts, so I'm thinking of switching to that one in the meantime.

Hi,
Am currently on online standard, am moving to the Energy Saver 3 Tarriff in the interim until I see what they are going to do. Have never had cause to complain and requested the Tarriff move via email.0 -

Thanks for the feedback peop's, I fink I'm gonna dig out some old bills and try & work out exactly how much our bills are likely to change, if it's a lot an online thing seems like a good plan, otherwise sit & wait for a deal.0
