Got a day at the Ryder Cup & an evening baseball game already booked.
What are your other 'must dos' whilst in the city?

Which baseball? Cubbies are traditionally poor, but it is a traditional ivy clad stadium and the streets around it are full of bars and restaurants. Whitesox are a better team and have a modern stadium, but the neighbourhood isn't the same.
Take ID everywhere if you a under 30 and want a beer.
Check out the Billy Goat Tavern for burgers, but no fries (!) and baseball on TV. Hancock Tower 96th floor bar is better than the Sears Tower. You see just as much.0 -
All of the above ....... deffo Billy Goats ! Plus take a river tour boat, check out Millenium park (Kidney bean etc) Across the road from the Art Institute you have the Route 66 begin sign. Walk out to Soldier field. Nice food and beer (Steak) at the RB Grill. See whats on at the old Vic theartre (we saw scissor sisters) Go and see Million dollar quartet at the Apollo theartre.
But remember ...... Double Cheeze the best !
Where are you staying, we stayed in the Hampton Inn Suites a couple of months ago. Really enjoyed it. Maybe spend a bit of time on the beach. Gosh there are loads of things to do. You can even go to the zoo for free ! For transport we just used subway or L. I think we had a ticket for $12 for the week, which included the ride to and from the airport.

Staying here - East Wacker Drive.
We're seeing the White Sox
We are all over 40 - but will carry ID in the hope we are challenged!
Thanks for the advice. All other recommendations appreciated.0 -
Food wise we really enjoyed PJ Clarkes - great burgers and fries.
Also went to Pizano's which is supposed to have been a favourite of Frank Sinatra - not sure how true that was but the pizza was traditional Chicago style and really good.
I also loved the shopping, the street are immaculately clean and a much easier experience than the busy streets of New York.
Aquarium filled a rainy day though I suspect right now there won't be too many of those!0 -

Talking ID ........... We flew to Phoenix via O'Hare airport a few years ago. With a couple of hours to kill we went to a bar in the airport for a Sam Adams beer. My wife and I were both ID'd by the guy behind the bar !!!!!!!!! Both of us were 45 at the time !!!!!!!!!! There was a sign saying 100% ID.
Hey don't forget the Ferris wheel on Navy pier ...... great views of the city.

PS the hotel looks cool !0 -
If you budget allows try the very best steakhouse in the USA, Gibsons. It's a ten minute walk from the Drake. Meal for two with a bottle of wine $150-$200, but you won't regret it!
Also consider a Harbour or River Cruise, a great way to see the city from a different perspective. A visit to the House of Blues for a beer is a must. And it's worth walking around the Navy Pier too if you have time.
Chicago is my favourite US city, so enjoy!Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0 -
