Virgin Media £20 Discount for paying by Direct Debit

I tried very hard to get this £20 credited to my account,as I switched to paying by direct debit in Feb but they denied all knowledge of customers getting discounts. They were adamant that they did not or have never offered this. The only saving you make is not being charged £5 per month for not paying by direct debit.
Anyone got some more ammunition I can throw at them to get this credit to my account?!
Try as you may you will not get a discount!!
Thats right they haven't offered it.. It's a misunderstanding at the beginning of this thread

This is what I did, and to BT also, Tell them IF your going to charge me 5 quid to pay you, I'm going to another supplier... The actual reply was "Right it's gone".
It seems no matter what name they give it, cable, ntl, virgin, it's just the same old mess!!!!
We fought wars to have the right to freedom of chioce! though the I/D cards are coming back, but not if we protest against it, The latest passports are still getting forged.0 -
I asked Virgin could they give me a better deal and they offered me £20 a month off my bill or All sky sports & movie channels plus an upgraded package for an extra £1 a month on what I am paying now. So I now get the xl tv package, free calls allday everyday, broadband, sky sports & movies for £56 per month (not a bad deal at all I think)0

I had this this morning £5 +£5 next month charge, I called up and spoke to the normal Customer service body who said " Ah thats unlucky but thats what we charge now" I asked to be put through to Customer retentions or his manager (Customer retentions got it) They firstly removed the charge Preminantly "Due to us not haveing a bank account that allows DD`s" (Best line i said all day)
This was swiftly followed by a £10 credit .. wait for it and then he reduced our phone evening and weekends + 2Mb broadband package from £37 a month to £21.70 a month with full Anytime 01 and 02 numbers as a perminant package no increase in 6 months or anything liek that.
And advised me that they will be upgradging there broad band service in September the Top will be 20 MB, next will be 8 M and the minimum 4Mb, he said due to there being a large gap between 8 MB and 20 MB he would expect that "Some customers" will be given a service in the middle and to call back in september.
What a happy day I had.If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

nope, this discount does not exist. i spoke to a really nice man who explained that a previous customer may have had a charge waived for some reason, but there is no policy of crediting the account with £20 just for setting up a DD and never has been.0
