Help regarding added postage tracking number

My partner has just opened an ebay account and sold two low value items yesterday with the postage being for second class standard not recorded as the items probably would'nt have sold and I always use second class when selling and never had any problems. Anyway because he's a new seller paypal says he's needs to enter a tracking number for these items or the money will be held but we won't get one if we send second class standard so how do we get round this please ?

You can't 'get around' it. It's a standard 21 day hold.

You either have to send it tracked - which you haven't. Or you have to wait 21 days for the money to be released. However, sometimes they release upon feedback being left by the buyer, not always though.

Sorry I meant get around the postage do I only have the option of doing the postage through paypal as they only offer 1st class standard not second.

I don't use Paypal postage, but I don't think there is a second class option on there. You can either print postage direct from the Royal Mail website or you can go to the post office. If you want to add RD it's 95p so probably not worth it. If you get a free certificate of posting, you can claim from Royal Mail if the parcel goes missing (up to £46).

Thanks for reply but they hold you money as well it looks like if you if we don't put a tracking number which I can only get if I send recorded if taking to po which will cost more or by doing their paypal postage apparantly I get tracking number.

The hold is 21 days.

Paypal postage isn't cheaper than the PO.

My point is you HAVE to provide a tracking number being a new seller. And i know paypal postage isn't cheaper it's just you a get provided with a tracking number if you use their postage eg I will use 1st class standard and get a tracking number as opposed to going to post office and paying for recorded which is more.

1st class post doesnt carry a tracking number

No, you don't *have to. You have the option of waiting for the money to be released and sending standard, or sending with tracking.

You only get a tracking number if you pay for it, ie as custardy says you don't get one for standard mail.

BTW you aren't confusing RM tracking with the Paypal barcode are you? They aren't the same.
