october half term late deal to cyprus /canaries ?

Has anybody ever booked last minute to either cyprus or the canaries ?
We are looking to take our 5 yr old on a short break on sat the 27th of oct and wonder if these get snapped up sharpish ? the prices for booking these holidays now seem scandalous as we had 2 weeks in florida last year in may for the same price. thanks in advance

In all honesty if you're not flexible and have to fly out that weekend you will be very lucky. As half term is only a week 27th October will be a very popular day to travel and as there are limited warm shorthaul destinations Cyprus and the Canaries will be where they're going.
Travelling in school holidays is MUCH more expensive, unless you start being creative (low cost airlines, avios, driving overseas etc.)

Unless there's any free kids places left your too early and too late for a deal. Too late because good deals are available a year before and when the first edition of the brochures come out. Too early cause the holiday companies are still concentrating on whats left for the summer holidays. There will be even less choice this year for half term as in most counties they don't break up till 26th october which means its only winter destinations that will be able, whereas normally the last week of the summer destinations would still be available. This is for packages, of course the low cost carriers could have more choice.

Demand is too high for great late deals.

I've had some cracking last minute deals in the Oct half term to Majorca and Menorca, but the Canaries will be more popular as the weather is better at that time of year.

If you're in the north you could consider flying from Scotland as it's not half term up there.

Perhaps have a look at prices from Scottish airports.
