Messy divorce

A friend has just divorced her husband and their daughter has ceased to live with her father and is living with her grandmother. The father is still claiming Tax credits for even though she has not lived with him since April. The tax credit people say that both parents need to sign the tax credit claim to get the tax credits paid to the gran who is icurring the expense of caring for her grand daughter. The father is refusing to sign the form.
What should they do ? The tax credit people seem to be incapable of accepting that the father will not sign. Any suggestions ?

who claims the child benefit?
report father for possible benefit fraud0 -
This is classed as benefit fraud. You can actually call the tax credit helpline (anonymously if you wish) to report what is happening.
Give as much information relating to the father as possible, this will then be investigated and dealt with.0 -
But it could take a while to change! Last year my friends ex partner abandoned their 14 month old with him (after denying access for 6 months) it took 3 Months for them to give him the child benefit and a further 2 Months to stop paying her IS and TC! Even though Police and Social Services were involved! My friend had to give up his job down south and move in with his Mum 200 miles away had it not been for her support he would have been bugg3red!!0
