in Credit cards
We moved house at the end of last year and got the confirmation letter that we were on the electoral roll at this address as from the 1st March this year.
Was just wondering when this information gets updated to the credit referencing agencies please, because I checked with Noddle (callcredit) the other day and it said that I was not down as being registered on the electoral roll here?
Trying to improve my credit rating, everything else on my report seems fine, I have 2 bank accounts and am thinking of closing the 'basic' account as I don't use it.
I therefore will have one current account with a £100 overdraft that I'm rarely in, a store card with a £300 limit and a credit card with a £200 limit - both of these I use and pay off regularly. Am also considering keeping my PAYG phone and getting a SIM-only contract to help improve my credit rating, I do need the minutes and it's not expensive. Will this work? do SIM-only contracts help with improving credit ratings?
Is there anything else I need to be doing? Many thanks.

I think it depends on your council, sometimes I have only been updated on the roll given to the CRAs in September, and once, the year after I moved out!
Don't need to close the basic account.
Limits are quite low, I would try and get them raised in the near future, but as long as you are using the CC and paying off each month it should be fine.
If you're only rarely in the overdraft, check the date it gets reported to noddle and try to not be in the overdraft that day. I currently have a 0% overdraft of £2000, which is always maxed out and into savings, except on the 1st of each month. Noddle reports that account as never being overdrawn. I will need to investigate how the other CRAs view it.
Phone contract will help a bit.0 -
I recently had the same problem as you, and asked my council to be put on the electoral register this was on the 28th May, the council told me that i would be added by the 2nd of july which they did and they confirmed to me they passed the details to the credit reference agencies on the 6th July. Experian had this updated on my credit report with them a few days after.
Equifax however still did not have it updated last week so i emailed them and explained there might be an issue with the flat number and they emailed back and explained they adjusted the flat number slightly and updated the report to show i was on the electoral register. I read somewhere the CRA's are supposed to update your report within 28 days of receiving the information from the council. So you may want to ask your council when and if they have passed the information to the credit agencies and take it from there.0 -
