When I was with Alliance and Leicester, I wrote a cheque to a friend for £100.

There was plenty of money in the account and it bounced.

Friend's husband was going gaga and friend wasnt happy, until I said hang on, it shouldnt have bounced. I was even prepared to send her my statement showing money had been there all along. I rang Alliance and Leicester and they said they had stopped the cheque as it was 'unusual activity' for my account. When I asked why didnt they ring me turns out they had.. on a number I had expressly told them not to ring and to take off their system :mad:

When I asked why they had rung a number they knew they wouldnt get me on and why they hadnt rung my mobile, they said they couldnt ring my mobile for 'security' :mad: they could only ring a landline and that was the only number they had (which they shouldnt have had anyway)

And when my card was actually cloned, it took me to stop the card first and they didnt ring me until the next day...
