Bike cover on home and contents insurance?

I currently have Direct Line's "Home Insurance Plus" for Buildings and Contents cover.
I have a bike worth over £2k which I'll be taking on holiday to France next week. They won't cover it, even for an additional premium.
Can anyone with experience of taking an expensive bike overseas give me any advice on Buildings and Contents Insurance that provides the level of cover I'm looking for please?
I'm aware that there's likely to be an increase in premium, but standalone bike policies seem to be coming out at around £160 - £200 for the cover I need, which seems a bit steep to me.

Spend £100 on a decent lock instead?
Expensive bike and a foreign trip is probably high risk to them.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
How much is the rest of your contents worth?
You could try their Direct Line Select policy which is their Mid Net Worth offering, Hiscox's 505 policy may well provide the cover you want or any of the other MNW policies. That said, you may find the increase in premiums to be more than the cost of a stand alone policy because MNW cover is generally much more (matched sets covered, all risk policies etc)0 -
Thanks for your replies. For anyone who's interested, I got a policy with Allianz giving the cover I needed for about £200 less than most of the MNW policies I looked at.0
