Citizens Advice Bureau helping answer basic rights at work and redundancy questions

We've recently launched a Citizens Advice Bureau board which aims to help people get started on selected topics (read the CAB introduction thread).
One of those topics is Basic rights at work & Redundancy
If you've asked such a question on this board and don't feel it's been answered, post your query on that thread and a Citizens Advice representative will aim to answer it within 2 working days.
If you’re already receiving support and advice from your local CAB, then please continue your discussion with them rather than post on that board.
Please be aware, this type of forum collaboration is new for MSE so it’s currently a trial. We hope it is well used, but as we’ll all be finding our feet, please be patient as it grows.
You’ll recognise a CAB adviser as their username will be displayed in bold purple, eg CAB Malvern Hills representative, and have a special representative signature.

Hello.
I have been working for the same company continuously for roughly 14 months but only been on the books for 31 weeks.
Me and my partner have just had our 2nd child on the 1st October.
but my employer has just informed me that I'm not entitled to paternity pay because i haven't been with the company long enough.
My question is,
Am I entitled to statuary paternity pay?
if not what can I do because I've got no income for the next two weeks.
any help on this matter would be appreciated.
Thankyou0 -

If your first impression will good the future will also save and company will be fully trusted for selecting you. The best way is searching about good sites where you can take good help and suggestion about best interviews.0 -

I have recently started a new job, and at my induction myself aswell as others were told that we would all be paid £6.08 an hour. when it came to signing my contract myself and others were told we were going to be paid £6.19 an hour and our manager signed the contract to say that, that would be our wage. after 1-2 weeks of employement i was talking to my manager about how good the wage was and how a 16year old school boy who has a part time contract was getting the same wage as everyone else. my manager then said that he will be on a lower wage because he is under 18, so i asked so will i be on a lower wage because i am 17? and he said yes. he said we will be having to sign a new contract to say we will be paid £5.19 an hour which aswell as other i have not done so yet.
should i take it further as he has breached the contract and i went in to the job thinking i was on £6.19 an hour? or do i sign the new contract an leave it? as well as this everyones contract is until feb 2013 and if the business does well we will be kept on and have a longer contract, but if i do take it further will he keep me on?
Many thanks for your time.0 -
