Are buyers allowed to leave negative feedback before dispatch

...a buyer has left a neg saying the description was misleading, moments after paying (not long after the auction ended).

Is this allowed? I mean, I know they can physically do it of course, but is it allowed considering

-no contact
-not dispatched item as only just paid
-neg comment is opinion not fact (imo it's not misleading, it states quite clearly in the title and description that the item is missing a part)

Well maybe ignoring the last point, what about the first two, do i have a case to get this neg removed?

I asked them to remove it but they just left a follow up saying the situation was fine (I refunded after contacting the buyer first).

Personally I would contact ebay as that has to be malicious bidding and therefore posisbly removable.

Malicious bidding seems a bit harsh, I think they just bid at the last minute and didn't read the listing properly (although it is the first line of the description in normal size font, it's not hidden in extra small size font at the bottom or anything).

I don't want any punishment to the buyer tbh, they have a below 10 feedback score and probably just thought they had to pay or get punished themselves.

Would just like the neg removed (have already added buyer to block list)

Malicious bidding is what its called, soolin is correct and wasn't being nasty.

If someone buys and item and leaves a negative when they either haven't paid for the item, or can't possibly have received it is being malicious. Your buyer is being downright nasty.

Also just because they only have 10 feedback on this account doesn't mean they don't have a string of other accounts. The fact the buyer left a quick neg does not sound like the work of a newbie.

Contact ebay and report the buyer for malicious leaving of feedback if you want the negative removed.

Whatever you do, do not leave any feedback for the buyer. as a non positive comment would get you into trouble with ebay.

You need this removed though, and malicious bidding is one thing ebay take seriously.

Forget how much feedback the buyer has, it is no excuse whatsoever to punish a seller because they can't or won't read a listing.

    Depends how clear it was.

As we've discussed earlier, some listings are designed specifically to mislead. Sellers pack their listing with information and hide problems in large blocks of text in order to get a sale without making the buyer properly aware of what is going on.

It's up to sellers to make buyers 100% clear as to what is in the listing; they are the ones who write them. Many bids come in at the last minute, so I think listings should be written as if you want buyers to see all the important information at a glance. It shouldn't be possible for sellers with poor presentation always to blame the buyer.

If you feel it was clear, though, you can ask eBay to remove it, but if you have problems already with people supposedly thinking your listings are misleading, maybe you need to revise things to make them a bit clearer. If it's only this once, it's the buyer; if it happens constantly, it's you.

is it possible the buyer left feedback for the wrong item?

I would probably contact the seller first and ask why they left it and then go through ebay. Be polite and give them a chance to explain first.

I do agree that buyers can make mistakes bidding at the last minute. I assume it can maybe be more problematic on phones with a smaller screens (but I'm just guessing at that).

I don't agree that they should be able to leave negative feedback before trying to resolve it with the seller first. No one forces a buyer to bid, if they don't have time to read the description (in my case, the first line and the title !!!!!!), they maybe shouldn't bid?

Ebay has always given messages to try and resolve a problem first before leaving negs, I dont know as I haven't left a neg in a long time, but is there a message asking you to resolve before leaving one?

I always thought negative feedback could not be left so quick.

I don't think they are asked to resolve before leaving a neg, but it mgiht flash up a warning. And then afterwards, it will ask whether there is a problem they can help to resolve.
