Npower Hometeam (Initial Inspection)
Anyone use this for Boiler/Central Heating? I have just taken out their service with the £15 monthly dd where you get unlimited call outs etc.
I have read a few bad reviews but then again I take the majority with a pinch of salt.
Does anyone know how thorough the 'initial inspection' is? Reason being is that my boiler is a BAXI and only four years old but has never bee serviced. Also occasionally when the central heating goes on it trips the system (overheats?) which usually turns it all off as I presume a safety caution.
My question is if they test out the central heating and this problem happens to pop up, will they 'void' my policy? It sounds like I am trying it on here but I am just being honest!
Hopefully someone will know more info! It's just this 'initial inspection' worries me...

I recently had npower's initial inspection but cannot answer your question fully. I have an 11 year old Vaillent ecomax boiler and the engineer took what seemed like only 10 minutes to not only inspect it but to service it as well. So unless your engineer triggers a 'trip' somehow you may get lucky as long as the fault does not surface a few times per hour.
The problem I had with them was that the engineer cancelled two previous appointments before finally turning up on the 3rd(and was on the wrong day).0 -

as per their t&c;s i there is a pre existing fault discovered at initial inspection you will have to pay for that fix.Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0 -
Does anyone know if they turn the central heating on to check that? As this is the main reason the fault comes about0

I'm looking into policies like this and have been reading a few reviews on cashback websites. A few people have mentioned that it's taken several months for the initial inspection/annual service to be performed. Surely if they discover a fault during this inspection, but you're a couple of months into the policy, there's no way for them to prove the fault was there at inception. It could quite easily have developed after taking out the policy, but before the inspection/service.0

They will probably find that there is a blockage in the system (in this case hot water heat exchanger) and therefore it is clearly pre-exsisting the contract. I know bg would replace it and advise you to get it flushed but I can't speak for any other providers.0
