Had a Tax Credits letter demanding payment, already setup a payment plan!

Long stry short, I had debt, set up a £50 a month repayment plan and it's been going out my account regularly as a Direct Debit for months. I've received a letter today saying this:
"Our records show that we agreed to a payment plan to help bring your tax affairs back on track, but that you now have a new debt.
We agreed the plan with you as a concession on condition that you made each payment at the agreed time and that you paid tax on time in future. You accepted these conditions. That is why you must pay this new debt immediately and ensure that all future tax payments are made on time.
Please act now unless you have recently paid in full."
This doesn't make sense!? I know there was 2 repayments due to the overpayment falling halfway through and halfway into a tax year. So I did receive a letter with 2 amounts to pay, but equalling an entire year, which caused confusion. I set up a repayment plan of £50 a month to over the entire debt and have been paying it off since. So why has this letter come through now? I've tried calling and not been able to get through. Spoke to the helpline and they are confused because they can see I've been making repayments on the debt mentioned. Just can't get to the repayments people to discuss. Any ideas? Have they screwed up? It's just rather frustrating and worrying.

Is this letter definitely about tax credits? It refers to tax debt in the text you have posted.
What is the phone number on the top of the letter?
Probably an admin error. Ring them and explain, they should be able to check it easily enough on their system.

SOLVED.
Annoyingly, the number on the letter I couldn't get through to anyone. Called a different number within the same department and was told it was a clerical error that's happened to a few people. They shouldn't have sent the letter and the amount hasn't changed. There was no explanation given as to why it was sent. They just agreed to carry on as normal with my £50 a month repayment because that's what we all agreed upon months ago. Weird, but a relief.
SO, if anyone else has issues or random, strange letters: don't panic.0
