Estate agents are bullying us! HELP!

I would keep calm and just plod along as normal. There is no excuse for this type of bullying and that is what it is. I personally would speak to the EA manager or his boss if it is him doing the bullying and inform him what is happening and how you feel, after all it is your feelings that count.
I have had personal experience of this and complained when it happened, got an apology which was quite hollow but felt better when the EA had to come face to face and apologise.
After all you are the customer here. I would look at using this as a bargaining tool, if you could and bring the price down and exchange early. You cant take the trousers off an elephant!0 -
I think it's definitely the agent who wants his bonus! To be honest, we are very flexible with completion dates etc and we don't want to risk losing this flat as we absolutely love it.
However, we're not prepared to move in a rush just because the EA wants his commission.
Since all the hassle with the EA started a couple of weeks ago, I asked my solicitor several times if he is getting pressure from the vendors to push things forward, but apparently that was not the case at all and everything was fine.
I guess the only thing i can do is pay the deposit tomorrow, ring the solicitor and ask him to exchange ASAP, and see what happens? We've not heard anything back about our proposed completion date - surely if they were wanting to complete sooner, they would have mentioned this by now?
what would I do without this forum!! :T0 -
I have to say that I wouldn't deal with the EA. I'd ignore their calls etc and go through your solicitors instead. The EA shouldn't be going between yourselves and the vendors to agree completion dates anyway - that's for you and the vendors to agree via your respective solicitors.
Call your solicitor and ask if they can talk about exchange and completion dates with the vendors solicitors. Once you've opened the dialogue with your vendors you'll feel much better. They might too - they may also be being hassled by the EA. Your vendors would have gone through solicitors already if they'd wanted to alter exchange/completion dates.
Above all, don't get panicked by the EA, it's none of their business when you're wanting to exchange and complete - you don't have to tell them anything or discuss anything with them - remember that!0 -

tell the EA that you want to know why the vendors have asked to complete early and try to speak to them. If they do want to complete in this tax year because it's an investment property and they want to save CGT then I am sure they will contribute to your rent and moving costs in order to complete early. Are they living in it, if so then it's not an investment property and there is no benefit to the vendors of completing in this tax year. If you find it is the EA's commission report them to their regulator...ask them for the address....that should stop themWombling £457.410

Don't see the point anymore in offering advice to people who only want to be agreed with...0
