Am gobsmacked!! Just saved £200 by moving from L&G to Santander for my contents insurance. L&G have had me as a customer for many years.. seemingly they did not care about that and when I corrected some inaccurate information re my alarm monitoring; they stated it did not make a difference, which I know it does.
So I went on comparethemarket link on here and then had to keep rechecking the quote as thought I had it wrong it came to £126.. I even included Legal protection up to £50K.. man, it does pay to keep moving... thanks MSE for making me so very aware of my finances!! Much appreciated.
Anyone else found themselves in this position?
Cheers
Marcia

If you go via the cashback sites like Quidco you can get over £70 back too.
Insurance is cut throat to attract new customers with most 1st year business written at an on average loss. To enable this to happen others have to pay higher to balance the books and statistically the longer your with an insurer the less price sensitive/ less likely to switch you are and so you become the prime candidate for inflated premiums0 -
Ahhrggh forgot about Quidco for this one.. many thanks for your feedback. Much appreciated.0

I would have stayed with L&G rather than go with the combination of Santander and BISL.
Good luck0 -
Insurance all together is a big scam, it all looks nice and sweet but believe me, if you ever get robbed no matter the situation, they will try their best to not pay you.
There has to be a more lawful alternative than insurance, what about assurance or something else?
Thanks0 -
How can you have home assurance? You cannot guarantee that your house will burn down or your contents be stolen?0

My insurance is due next week...and for the first time in memory the renewal is cheaper than any other quote!
(having made a claim with them last year too)0
