Airline tickets refund situation

Hi, I bought Jet Airways tickets directly using my credit card. I contacted them to say that I may have to cancel my ticket. I paid £622.39 for the tickets. They told me that there would be £115 cancellation fee.

Is there any way to get around that?

I bought the tickets using my Capital One credit card. Is there any way the credit card company can get me a full refund?

Any advise is welcome.

Thank you.

You are fortunate that there is a cancellation fee rather than the whole amount being non-refundable (aside from taxes).

You may have got around this by buying fully flexible tickets which would have cost you goodness knows how much.

This situation has nothing to do with your credit card, perhaps you are covered for cancellation by your travel insurance?

Is that the norm, that the whole amount is non-refundable? I will check with my travel insurance.

Unless you pay premium to get flexible tickets they are usually non-refundable. If you can get away with paying a £115 fee that's a pretty good deal IMO.

I contacted my travel insurance, and they have an excess of £100, so I might as well cancel with the airline directly.

Is the excess £100 per person or £100 per claim?

Not sure. But it's 1 person and 1 claim, so it doesn't really matter.

The cancellation would need to be for a reason covered by the travel insurance before they would pay out, such as illness or accident.
