There are a few options and routes you could go down:
A 'pamper hamper' with nice things she may not be able to afford - facemasks, bath bombs etc. Nail polishes. You can get a lot of things like nail buffers, masks and polishes in pound shops.
Useful toiletries to start her off, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo etc. Bottle of bleach, flash wipes. Un glam but useful!
You could also do a more food themed one, with things like a bottle opener, pizza slicer (!?) and things. You could also get her a pre-paid gift card from a supermarket. Jokey student staples such as supernoodles and cans of beans!?! It was a bit of a shock when I suddenly found myself on my own in my student flat, and my aunt had given me a tin of nice biscuits! So some tea bags, nice mug and biccies could be a comfort!
When I moved away from home I needed things I would never have realised, like a clothes dryer. We had a washing machine, but I had no where to hang my wet washing! For things like that an argos gift card may be well appreciated, although Tesco voucher could cover things like that since the big stores sell everything!0 -
You could treat her to some decent stationery - a couple of good notebooks, nice pens, stapler, hole punch, plenty of plastic pockets, A4 ringbinders and lever arch files, paper clips, etc. Maybe a couple of storage boxes to keep everything in - you could get a larger one, put a slightly smaller one inside, and then put the gifts into that. Then the hamper is useful as well.0

I have just graduated and think it is a great idea

ideas...
- luxury items are always good especially at the start missing home etc....favourite chocolate, sweets, drinks etc
- bottle opener! (the one thing most people in my halls forgot!)
- photos of family, maybe in a nice frame
maybe a nice one of her and your boys?
- not sure how old your boys are but if appropriate maybe they could draw her a picture of something to add
- a new DVD to watch when she just wants some 'alone time'
- second the nice stationary - some pretty paperclips are nice, a good notebook (i liked pukka pads or similar the ones with a ring bind and holes already made), some nice ring binders, a decent set of pens (you go through so many!)
- i presume she has her kitchen stuff but if not then maybe something like cutlery with bright coloured/patterned handles....so much easier than plain silver in halls, some nice (non-white!) plates, bowls mug, glasses (everyone has basic white ones in halls!)
- if in halls she will probably have a notice board so some nice drawing pins (e.g. paperchase do rubber duck ones!)
- if she drinks then a small bottle of alcohol or something
- again if she drinks maybe give her a 'hangover cure box' - painkillers, energy drink etc etc
- a memory stick is very useful - you can get some nice novelty ones from amazon/play

You could do an "emergency supplies" hamper of things that she won't have thouht to buy such as:
Batteries for when the TV remote dies
Washing up gloves (becuase housemates are disgusting sometimes)
Photograph of family and friends in a nice frame for when she is homesick.
Sellotape/bluetack is always useful
lightbulbs
torch for walking home late at night
candles and matches in case of a power cut (i was caught short with this one at uni)
Nice hot chocolate with marshmallows (Like snowman soup but without the christmas theme) you could put it in a nice mug as well.
Phone credit for when she is feeling homesick
Calendar/Diary
Air freshener if there is a shared bathroom!0 -

Thank you Honey Bear0 -
My MIL made me a hamper for XMAS full of dove/nivea shower gels which were bought on offer. I'm still using it now and it must work out 2 bottles of shower gel per month plus facemasks, few bottles of fash wash and a few fizzy bath bombs x0

Thanks so much, Lots of fantastic ideas. I will try to include a bit of everything mentioned (minus the condoms) thats her domain! Lol x0
-
Actually shall I include them or not? She's not into boys yet and I don't want her thinking in implying she will or anything but on the same point she's going to be on bare minimum (money wise) so if she's going to, I'd rather her be safe x0

Torch yes, candles no for power cut. Certainly in the halls i know candles are banned. A map can be useful. Duvet cover to make theroom a bit more homely. Student cook book if self catering. An open ticket. A visit
( ok bit hard to put yourself in a hamper...) biscuit tin with nice bikkies, sweetie tin with nice sweeties. Most gps do free condoms so i certainly wouldnt buy any. 20*25 for 2025: 489 / 5000 -
