Does Amber handbrake Light Fail MOT?
As above, I have a 05 BMW with the common DTC failure. There are two lights on the dash both amber: the handbrake light and the DTC light.
What I need to know is, will this fail the car's MOT in light of the recent rule change? It didn't fail last year but that was in DEC 11.
I did a Google search but couldn't find much.

If its december then it may be into the new set of rules and could fail.
But these rules keep changing, Half the updates have been dropped already.
Why is the handbrake light on? Dodgy switch or dodgy brakes?
Wouldnt it be worthwhile fixing the faults?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Hi
I thought the new rules came in already?
The fault is related to an internal pressure sensor. Because it's internal you have to replace whole hydro unit; can't replace just the sensor. It's not a cheap fix but I suppose I'll have to do it if it will fail in Dec.
I just wondered if an amber light was as bad as a red one in relation to the MOT rules.0 -
Start with the easy (cheap) stuff first. It may well be a wheel sensor going bad, but if the analyser shows more than one mysteriously going faulty at the same time, it is pointing to the abs controller being faulty. BBA reman (and others) can rebuild them for you quickly.0

Thanks.
I got the codes read which came out as 5E20 - Pressure sensor 1 failed so it's doubtful it's a wheel sensor?0 -
Bump.
Any other thoughts?0 -
Some rules have already come into force and more to follow later this year.
Nov/Dec i think?
Have you actually checked the pressure sensor?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
