Hi Everyone
I purchased 11350 Somerfield shares 6 years ago at a total cost of Approx £11.000 including buying costs. (92p per share )
They are currently £210p per share and I want to sell as many as I can now, without paying tax.
Could someone please advise me of how many shares I can sell without paying tax, as I dont understand the taper relief.
I would like to sell all of them now at current rate which would amount to over £23K, however this may be heavily taxed.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Why not sell half before 5th April and half after and that way you don't have to worry about tax & taper relief.
Take your certs down to a stock broker monday with ID docs and they may do the deal there and then.0 -
If you have a paper share certificate do you have to sell all of them on the certificate?
And how much do these places charge?0 -
No you dont have to sell them all,you will be issued with a new cert showing you're new holding.
I pay £12.50 a trade - but i trade quite often - if i were you i wouldnt expect to pay more than £20.0
