Kobo Touch v Sony E-reader

Hi all, I've explored the Kobo Vox (my main use was as an e-reader but I like the tablet idea as well) and am coming to the unhappy conclusion that the reflective glare from the glass screen makes it a no-no for outdoor reading, thus is no good for the beach! So, I'm now wondering about a Kobo Touch or a Sony E-Reader. Just wondered what other peoples views were? How easy is it so download books "direct to device" (ie not via a PC)? I've discounted the Kindle as a) I resent being locked to Amazon and b) UK libraries don't support Kindle (I am a big fan of libraries and would like to keep using them, even if in a virtual way. I know that does nothing to support the staff or the physical premises and I am morally challenged by that.....). Usual thanks in advance....
