Hello OP,
I lived in Sherwood for a couple of years (on a road just off the shops on Mansfield road). I was a young female living alone and I had no problems with crime or safety whatsoever. I moved there when my OH got a job overseas and I needed to relocate to a smaller place. I chose Sherwood as it was close to the city with good local amenities and not too pricey. I emigrated from there last year and although I now live in the lake Geneva area overlooking the Alps, I still have some fond memories of my time spent in Sherwood!
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.Remember Occam's Razor - the simplest explanation is usually the right one.

Sorry haven't had internet access for the last few days so thanks everyone for your replies.
Lisa - thanks!
Horseygirl - it's good to know it's a nice area am definitely thinking of putting an offer in. I spoke to my mum yesterday and she told me as long as the house isn't near St. Ann's............
hcb42 - wow, which area do you live in?
TopQuark -that's good to know about the safety aspect. Lake Geneva sounds lovely I'm Jealous!0 -
Mercurial,It does not matter where you live anymore,we live in a very nice area in NG9 and i woke up last Tuesday morning to find the road closed and Police blue and white tape everywhere.
It became apparant something very nasty had happened, well later i was told a guy was outside his house with a large knife in his chest, apparently put there by his girlfriend.
I have lived in this area for 50 years and never witnessed anything like this,so in my opinion there are problems all over the place ,just be careful0 -
redmalc, sorry to hear about that it's really distressing for something like that to happen so close to home. A few years ago I rented near Notting Hill in London and the first weekend we moved into the property there was a shooting on our doorstep not a nice thing so I sympathise. As I'll be living by myself I just wanted a general feeling of safety though of course anything can happen at anytime.
becs - I don't blame you for wanting to move, hope you find somewhere nice soon. Thanks for the information has been a great help.0 -

I know someone living in a "rough" part of London. The first time he ever had a problem was when he visited a relatively safe Cathedral city - he was mugged.0
