My OH and I are going to NI for a few days in September. We will most likely get the ferry and have the car so we can travel!
Looking for ideas places to stay and visit. Very broad I know but we have not been before and looking for any ideas and advice!
We will be child free:D
PS. Its strange coming over to this board! I am always on the Scotland board and thought they would be more or less the same, but they are so totally differant!

We are a strange bunch at times here, if in doubt, just smile politely, nod and back away slowly!
I hear the bus tours of Belfast are supposed to be good even for locals. Sometimes deals appear on the daily deals sites such as groupon / graboneni / treatticket etc.
Mourne mountains down in Newcastle (and Newcastle itself) are lovely for a walk in, or even just a drive around that area near Spelga dam.Regards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34

I would definitely recommend the Antrim coast (causeway and Rope Bridge). Pop into the Ramore for something to eat.
The Marble Arch caves are worth a visit.
I wouldn’t bother with the Titanic TBH. It’s worth a shout if you’re in Belfast staying (and have parking) but I think there are loads more interesting sites if the weather is good. It’s neat but not fantastic, unless you're a Titanic nut.0 -
Ulster American Folk Park, Omagh
Drive round the Antrim Coast Road
Avoid Derry on a Saturday night!0 -
Doh!!!!! The Marble Arches is where I meant.:D0

Antrim Coast for definite!
Absolutely beautiful part of our country. Would second the Ramore in Portrush for dinner to finish off the day.
Next day prob head on round the coast road towards 'The Walled City'. As BigAl94 says, definitely avoid it on a Saturday night! lol :rotfl:
Fermanagh is beautiful! We stayed in the Killyhevlin hotel and would def recommend it. We'll be going back soon ourselves
We stayed in the Hilton in Belfast a few months ago. Normal price would be way too dear but we got a good deal through www.hotels.com. Central location so within walking distance of city centre. City Hall, Botanic, Victoria Square. Bus tour. Titanic. Odyssey. Waterfront. Kings Hall... There's loads to do!!Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
Any children?
Antrim Coast; and at Cushendall turn right down shore Street and then first left up Layde Road to Cushendun at Cushendun take the road to Torr Head. A bit narrow but worth it. There is a lot to see along the entire coast, beaches to walk along, forests, waterfalls, take your time and relax.
Newcastle and Mournes. If you have good weather and are fit take a walk up to the brandy pad with a packed lunch and make a day of it. Driving around is not the same experience. You could spend a week in the Mournes.
Fermanagh is also a beautiful county. Good views at Lough Navar forest park. Marble arch caves are interesting.
Gardens and Houses there is the National Trust properties, particularly Mount Stewart. There is a good garden in Glenarn Castle.
Beaches my favourites are Murlough north of Newcastle, miles of it to walk along and sand dunes. The beach East of Portrush (White Rock) and Whitepark Bay on the North Coast. Downview, Castlerock and Portstewart Strand also good.[STRIKE]Less is more.[/STRIKE] No less is Less.0 -
Good guide here, OK it's the 1930's but most still holds true - apart from the hotel prices! http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~econnolly/books/ulster1930.html#foreword0
