Can I get my money back?

Thanks for advice. I will ask the manager tomorrow for a reject and refund. The assistant manager decided on exchange only. They seem to have a special policy on returning tents as so many have been brought back. I suggested that this may be because the quality is low. He didn't disagree.
No, it is as per a number of people have posted here. Customers buy them, use them for a specific event and take them back for a full refund when there is nothing wrong with them.
Unfortunately, yours situation from the outside looks exactly like this so I can understand the attitude of the AM. I think you will be lucky to get a refund with it but it will depend on the attitude of the manager. If they want to dig their heels in they can probably make it a tough slog requiring court to enforce your rights.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
And this is why you wont get a refund, festival goers and campers trying to return their tents after the event is not new to them.
Also it's very rare at that type of event for somebody to stay with the tent at all times so somebody else could have caused damage to it when it was left unattended. You've already said that it was left up for four days, did you honestly have somebody with it at all times so somebody was missing part of a festival just to look after a tent?
I also find it hard to believe that in a festival of 7000 people that a) yours was the only tent damaged and b) you personally asked all 7000 people if they had any damage.
If this had been a quiet family camping trip it would be different but festivals are known for things like tents getting damaged.0 -
Durability will also be a factor of price - a lot of the cheap models are designed for lazy, environment-hating festivalgoers to buy, put up, use and abandon. You should see the mountain of cheap abandoned tents at the end of most festivals, it's vulgar. I would take a middle route - complain that the item is clearly tat and not what you wanted, you wanted a durable tent you could use for years, and suggest you pay the difference between the failed one and the first decent one?0
