Sage Instant accounts V10/v12

Options
I'm using instant accounts version 10, I've just had a mailing about upgrading to V12. I like the look of the improved bank reconciliation (saving it part way through - generally takes at least 5 attempts to sort this at the moment).

Can anybody tell me if they've upgraded, was it worth it, and how much did it cost? The Sage website seems a little coy on mentioning the price of the upgrade!

Sage always send out these types of mailing and call you once a year saying we have a new better version lol, dont fool for it, unless they make it easier or much better.
    Kind Regards

Thanks for the reply, I'm well aware of Sage's mailings etc. The thing is I AM actually interested in upgrading if it will make bank reconciliations easier - up to 5 aborted attempts each month because of an entry with the wrong date not appearing on the list, or some minor thing missing which I need to post, wastes a huge amount of time and as my business is growing it's only going to get worse.

Does anybody know the answer to the cost/benefits question above?

    Hi Slinky

We upgraded last year for £76 from V.10 but only recently loaded it on to my computer! OH thinks it's best to keep on top of upgrades otherwise it's too easy to fall behind and then have to make a bigger leap.

The layout is quite different but then it does take me a while to get used to new things so don't go by me. But I have found the fact that you can save the bank reconciliation halfway through very useful as it usually takes me more than one attempt to get it right.

Hope that helps a bit but obviously it's your choice at the end of the day. Is it worth asking Sage if they're about to upgrade again in the near future before you spend out on V.12.

    Mary

Good point Mary, I'll check with them. Certainly for £76 it could well be worth it.

The best thing we ever did was to stop using sage accounts.

I absolutely hate the the new bank reconcilation on version 12, much preferred the previous versions. But each to their own.

I printoff the activity on the bank since my last reconcilation and use this to reconcile my bank. I can spot any incorrect dates easily then. Once I've done the necessary 'ticking and bashing' I know all the unpresented transactions, and prepare a hand-written bank rec. On version 11's bank rec I could just click 'swap' so as all the transactions were highlighted, then click on the unpresented transactions, job done.

The only thing is I heard, and I don't know how true it is, that at some point they will no longer be providing support for versions before 12

you could try asking on here:-
    http://www.sageforum.co.uk
can take a while to get a reply but they are helpful
I'm about to upgrade because the v12 allows conversion from quote to invoice & that would be really useful for me - otherwise I wouldn't bother.
