Fujifilm S9500 digital camera (refurbished) for £199.99

This looks like a great bargain, if I had the money I'd be first in the queue!

It is the older model, predecessor to the S9600, and as it's refurbished it has a limited 6 month warranty, but that can be extended with Fuji's own Super Warranty for as little as £49 for 2 years, including accidental damage.

If the S9500 is too high a price, there are cheaper options in the Fujifilm refurb shop http://www.fujifilm.co.uk/shop/refurb/shop.php

John Lewis had these on their website at that price, NOT REFURBISHED until last weekend.

Evidently all gone now though, but you might still get one in-store.

could you clarify? I've been looking at these and haven't noticed any issues in the reviews.

I am just about to buy a Panasonic FZ7 for £155. Would this fuji be a better bet? I don't know much about cameras but the image stabilization system on the FZ7 seems to be very good, but the fuji has nothing like it. Is camera shake a problem? I want to take pictures of rugby matches so a big, steady zoom is really useful.

For what you want, stick with the FZ7! Excellent image stabilisation at full zoom. Seems a real bargain at £155! The Fuji would need a tripod.

Becky, never seen any issues in all the reviews I've seen, but I'll be sure to search further before investing in any expensive new camera!

Withabix, no John Lewis near me, but thanks for the info. Actually, as I am a Fuji owner already and registered with the site I have the option of 10% off all refurb cameras over easter so that would be an even better deal :D

Where are you getting the FZ7 for £155? is that inc p+p?

The 10% code for fuji is available to anyone, you should be able to find it (it's on HUKD for example).

I'm trying to decide between these the pros and cons as I see it are:

FZ7 - image stabilization, much smaller and "pocket friendly"
S9500 - more like a pro camera - bigger lens, manual zoom, bigger CCD so better images.

I think if you want to learn and experiment with photography, the s9500 has a lot more growing room, but if you just want to take good pictures, especially of moving things using the zoom like at a rugby match, the FZ7 is more appropriate.

If the code is available to everyone I might as well share it here (didn't want to break any rules!)

you won't find comments in the reviews about the command dial not working as they're fine in new cameras! it's only after they've been used that it (might) fail. It's certainly not all Fuji cameras, as far as I know it's just this model, and not all cameras will fail, but there have been many many complains on photogrpahy forums about it :(

Fuji will repair the dial under warranty, but it will take a few weeks while they sort this out.

I have an online friend who has this problem which is how I know about it - she posted here...

The problem is supposedly fixed in the new s9600 model (which I bought!) :)
