Job Seekers Allowance Question?

Ive been signing on for about a month now. It has actually taken nearly 5 weeks for me to receive first payment from first signing on.
I have a small job coming up soon for my mums friend, it will only take me a week to do..
Shall i phone JSA and tell them i cant sign on as ill be doing a job for a week?
Only problem is, i dont want to cancel my claim because ill be signing on again straight after i finish that job for my mums friend, and then will i be waiting another month again for first payment for a new claim? Or will they temporarily cancel my claim and reopen it straight after??
If im doing the job as cash in hand, or a self employed basis just for 1 week what am i meant to tell the job centre??
Please advice me on what to do..

Yes, call in sick to the JCP and then fail to declare your income for that week ... and just wait for someone to report you!
Now stop being so silly and when the time comes explain to the JCP that you have some work. You can do a rapid reclaim once your work has ended.0 -
You need to inform the JC of any work that you do, and any money that you earn. If you earn below a certain amount, you will still be able to claim JSA. If not, you will have to sign off and then do a rapid reclaim once the work is finished.0

Ok, was just wondering if they would have start a new claim when i told them i had a job for the week.
I wasnt going to not tell them about it. Just didnt know how they would go about signing me off then back on straight away or if it would be a brand new claim again that's all.0 -

Earn below a certain amount? I thought it was if you worked under a certain amount of hours? not how much you earn?0 -

It's both. You can work up to 16 hours on JSA but the money is taken away from JSA other than £10 I think so obviously you don't need to earn much to not be eligible for any JSA.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

If that were the case the a Doctor on £50ph could work 16 hours at £50ph earning £800 a week and still claim JSA

I think you've misinterpreted the OP's post due to them missing out an apostrophe. What I think they meant to say was...
Shall i phone JSA and tell them i cant sign on as i'll be doing a job for a week?
It just goes to show the importance of punctuation....0 -
