BT Infinity Credit Checked Me For Broadband

I know this is a credit card forum, but this is related to a future credit card application.

I have just been credit checked by BT when applying online for their BT Infinity 2 broadband package.
I believe that this is done to see if a deposit will be needed off the applicant (no deposit was needed in my case :j).

I have just got my Equifax report and indeed it list BT as doing a credit search.

The question I want to ask is how will this impact a future application for a credit card?

I have just got a Flybe card last month which is the only account on my Equifaq report that I have applied for in the last 6 months (1 credit search).

I been seeing on this site that 2 searches in a 6 month period is ok. I was looking to apply for a more mainstream card with a better APR and limit in the next couple of months but wondered if this BT search will be taken into consideration (counted as 1 search) when applying for this new card.

Do I have to wait 6 more months to apply or does this BT search come under a different catagory then credit card applications, As it just lists this search under credit application?

Many thanks for any responses in advance

Should be flagged under "utility" rather than whatever credit cards etc come under. I think. My BT is under that.

Negligible impact, however you would have to have given them explicit permission to do so - did you read their T&Cs before applying?

Yes I knew that they will credit check me as it told me on the online application that I had to agree to the search in order to complete the order.

I don't mind waiting the 6 months to apply for the credit card, but it would be better for me to apply in a couple of months if it turns out that this BT search is not regarded as counting towards my applying for credit.

I only want 2 searches to appear on my file in a 6 month period.
I already have 1 (Flybe) and want to know if the BT search will be regarded as another? or will a lender see only 1 search for a credit card and 1 search for a utility account, leaving me with 1 more free search to do for another credit card.
