Green Manure advice

I've got a patch of very heavy, acidic soil (about 6ft by 3ft) which is in shade for most of the day but some plants do grow well there (Cornflowers, some herbs etc) but the soil's now looking a bit sorry for itself.
I was looking at sowing a green manure but not sure which one to pick. Ideally I'd want to sow something from now and maybe not have too much to dig in in Spring.
Any ideas?
