Disgusted with natwest. I'm a 2nd year student nurse, and they have been nothing but unhelpful, as well as nobody within the business knowing anything regarding student accounts and overdrafts. My term dates run from February-February, however natwest do not acknowledge this. When i visited to extend to my second year limit in march i was told I was unable to until July. Although frustrating as I would have been well into my second year by this point I understood. I returned at the start of July to be told the end pd July. I returned then to be told the 1st August. I revisited on the 1st of august and was told it would be the 1st september. After visiting 3 different branches and getting three separate responses i rang the student overdraft customer care team. I was told by this gentleman that he had spoken to his supervisor and there were exceptions that could be made for student nurses due to the differing term dates, and so off i went back to the branch! After explaining this i was told to contact the call centre and ask them to put a note on the system. On ringing them i was told everything I had been informed on exceptions being made was false, and I would need tp wait until September. couldnt now say i trust my bank, nobody really seems to know anything about student accounts!0

I've had a Natwest student account for two years now.
I switched to a Natwest Adapt Account (from Halifax) in the June before my A levels came out so I could qualify for the free rail card.
I turned up in branch in August to upgrade it to a student account and they'd already done it for me, and all I had to do to get my rail card was fill in a form online and it arrived promptly.
The only problems I've ever had with the account were them taxing me at the beginning (I forgot to fill in the form) and then when my card got rejected in Zara. I went into the bank and they ordered me a new one and unblocked it within five minutes. (It was having problems because the chip was damaged - my bad from dropping it too many times).
I've never used the overdraft but the staff at my uni branch are very helpful, and set one up for my friend with no issues.
My new rail card arrived last month, so I didn't even have to apply for it again.
Overall, great service0 -
Applied online to get the account at about 8 pm on a Tuesday... Had the account up and running by Saturday morning. Very quick from NatWest. Less than a week.
NatWest credit check during the application process and they credit checked me for a £1000 overdraft (I'm a January nursing student) but I lowered it to £750 which I got. They checked my student status via UCAS by entering my track ID number, asked if I wanted to switch accounts which I declined cause I had to enter some account details.
I had to enter my card details and a form of ID number, my driving licence in this case but it can be a passport, to check my ID. Sent it off and it was suppose to be 1 business day that they would check my student status but I heard nothing and called them. The adviser said that it was at the ID check stage and I could either go in branch and get it up and running or wait for an email and it would take 48 hours. Opted to go to branch but as soon as I got off the phone I had an email to do the ID check online.
Simple enough, I did it online. I had to take a picture of my driving licence with clear details on a white background (piece of paper). Uploaded it to the specified link, entered my application reference number and my name and sent it off on Friday afternoon, about 2pm. Then by Saturday morning my account was up and running, they let me know by text and email. I have access to my online account already and the overdraft is done as well. Just waiting on my bank card, pin, welcome pack to come through the door.
Nicely done by NatWest because everything was done online which made life easier. I recommend.
I was rejected by the Co-Op and Santander and NatWest was my last resort. I'm thinking I should have just applied there in the first place.0
