I'm just at the start of a long custody/family battle and would like to use a excellent solicitor in the middlesex county who could represent me.

Will you be paying yourself, or relying on legal aid? And if you are paying, how important is cost to you?

If you have deep pockets and money is no object, contact Mishcon de Reya. Or, if some fundamental principle of justice is concerned, contact them, explain that you cannot pay, and ask if they would act for you 'pro bono' (for free). They are very good; are sometimes willing to represent 'deserving' people for free; but do not generally do legal aid work (the rates that legal aid pay are far below their normal charges).

Otherwise, ask around and try to get personal recommendations.

Hi, I will have to pay myself due to how much i earn but i don't earn a huge amount nor have big pockets.
