CAR INSURANCE POLICY TERMINATION CHARGES-£45 is it justified

Hi all,
I have been looking through the site for information relating to car insurance providers namely Admiral and their process of terminating a policy. Is this something that you could look into as mine are wanting £45 to terminate my policy.
Surely this is a similar experience as with the banks where how can they justify this much money to cancel a policy.
The Admiral customer service line in India is terrible, what with the delay and the lack of feelings from the service reps I do not feel happy at all. I asked the rep to justify the £45 to me and all he said was they had to inform DVLA about it, but I inform them the fact that I have sold the car and therefore send off the new keepers details to DVLA myself.
I think this is something which should be looked into as it is criminal to charge this much money to simply terminate a 10 year existing customer who also has another car insured with them on a separate policy.
Time is against me as I am emigrating to Australia in mid May 07, I have to sell both of the cars and with the two policies will incur a £90 charge.
if anyone has any info on how to stop this rediculous charge of £45 per policy to terminate.

I don't think it's unreasonable at all.
They have to set up a call center and have administrators to deal with your correspondance.
They have to store your data safely.
Comply with the data protection act.
Implement a privacy policy and comply with all recent legislation.
Of course when they dispose of your personal details they would have to pay for it to be done safely (not just put your private details in the waste bin).
All the things above cost money and that's just off the top of my head.
I'm sure an expert could embellish that list more than me.
I think they could very easily make a case for this costing them £45 per policy, so I don't think you stand any chance of winning the argument.
This was also stated in your policy documentation up front and you have a cooling off period in which to cancel if you didn't like it, so you have in fact already accepted it as a condition of the insurance.
If you didn't want to pay it then why didn't you check the policy up front and cancel it at the beginning within the cooling off period.
Yes I know I'm being very harsh here but it's still valid.0
