New roof leaking

Hi guys; I'm also going to post this on the 'in my home' board as I'm not sure which is most appropraite.
Two years ago we had a single storey extension built on the side of the house. Following the very heavy rain in April/May (and all that has followed) the roof has leaked. It appears to be leaking along the flashing where it is tied into the existing house.
I'm just wondering where I stand with the roofing contractors? I've rung them nearly every week since noticing the leak and they keep saying they'll come and look. They haven't. I feel like they're fobbing me off. I'm also a little concerned as to what long term damage may have been done to the timber in the roof space. There is obvious water damage to ceilings in the extension; should they pay to get this rectified? We also have a problem with the power tripping and not re-setting after heavy rain and I feel water may be getting to the electrics.
I feel a little annoyed that I may have to claim on my insurnace and basically be out of pocket because of their poor workmanship.
What are your thoughs?
Thanks for reading

Did they give you a guarantee?0

If you paid by cash to save on the vat etc then they will not put the job through the books.
If you want a job guarantee then you also need to be above board and insist that all work is recorded and you have a receipt for it.I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0 -
It was all done above board with reciept etc; don't know about a guarantee though0

Strange post, what from in the Op's thread brings you to a cash job with no rights conclusion. It wouldn't make any difference to the OP anyway, whatever way it was paid has nothing to do with the op whether the roofer declares it or not.If you paid by cash to save on the vat etc then they will not put the job through the books.

Soga will still comply, if the job wasn't done to standard the get another roofer to look at it and write a report you can challenge the roofer with. if the report is in your favour then small claims court will make him pay one way or the other.0 -
bris nothing strange about the post it's just common sense and the op has confirmed he had receipts and it was all done above board, before anybody can give any advice we need to be aware of all the facts.
If there are no receipts then the builder could deny that he did the job in the first place.I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0
