special short break in May

Hi
Hoping you can come up with some ideas for us.
We are celebrating a special anniversary next yr and would like to take a long weekend away.
Any ideas anyone? Obviously long haul not worth the time for such a short break. We appreciate that the season will be young then and that the weather will be hit and miss.
Would like somewhere a bit romantic/special but not over the top stuffy.
We like people watching and are happy to relax or be outdoorsy - walking etc. Budget probably around £1000.
Many thanks for any suggestions in advance

    Where are you flying from?

I love Istanbul, has loads to do and can be romantic. Also not too expensive so your budget would get you a nice hotel.

    Nothing more romantic than

    a. telling your friends your going to Paris, don't you know.
    b. looking forward to it
    c. enjoying it
    d. telling all your friends about it when you get back. lol
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

    Amalfi Coast.

  • Prague would be my choice.

I would suggest Venice. No need to stay in Venice itself (very expensive) but you could stay quite cheaply in Lido de Jesolo and then use the ferry to go to Venice for the day (use the water taxis - you can buy a day pass quite cheaply).

Another vote for Venice but definitely do stay in Venice itself.

(Water taxis are expensive, use public transport and get out to some of the smaller islands.)
