Why will you need to apply for a new card in February when yours is 0% until July 2013? If you can divide the amount by no of months to end of June 2013 and pay that each month then you are sure of paying it all off before 0% runs out. Hold off home improvements each month unless you have cash in excess of cc payment due.

The money I currently owe on the card is only interest free until February, any more I transfer over before the end of August is 0% until July.

We already have a lot of stuff we need to do the home improvement and we have family helping with the decorating so we're not paying for labour anyway.

    Thanks for your reply.

If you've only been in the house a month, are you on the electoral roll yet at this property?

If you don't register very quickly you'll almost certainly have to wait until December (and possibly even January) before making any new applications for credit, as the CRAs are not updated with your ER details during September, October, and November each year.
